A delighted guest says: "What a welcome. They cannot do enough for you. Book their superior rooms and you are in for a real treat."
Times correspondent Stephen McClarence
says: Particularly if you book the rock 'n roll room, with its
wall-mounted guitar and Elvis poster. The black-and-white decor
features retro chrome and a sheepskin rug as big as a snoozing
polar bear. It's a shady room, with trees almost brushing french
windows opening on to a fire escape, and has a wide-screen TV
and a spa bath.
Together with the other "premier themed room" (African),
it's different from the six more basic bedrooms, which are all
en suite and are being refurbished (now
completed). With its four English Tourism Council
diamonds, Wanslea feels like a smart and comfortable small hotel.
Boutique B&Bs can't be far away.
